Funding secured

One of the 420 pieces of broken sculpture which were found plastered into the walls

The hidden heritage of the reredos sculptures will finally be explored this summer with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the Pilgrim Trust, the Church Buildings Council and the Maltwood Fund (Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society).

With this funding we will be able to digitise the collection of broken sculpture and put it online. Over the summer months, the collection will be catalogued and condition of the artefacts assessed by specialist conservators. We’ll be recruiting a team of volunteers and running a whole range of activities so do get involved.
