In other reredos news…

A Victorian stone reredos has been found behind panelling in All Saints church in Windsor, apparently designed by author Thomas Hardy – full story here.

Dating to the 1860s, the reredos in Windsor is contemporary with the High Altar reredos at St Cuthbert’s which was donated in 1867 to the church by the Somerset Freemasons. This ‘other’ reredos at St Cuthbert’s depicts the Last Supper with figures of St Andrew and St Cuthbert on either side, and was carved by James Nesfield Forsyth.
